Planning Your First Hunt in Africa
At Ubathi Global Safari, our admin office is available to address any queries before you decide to make a booking with us. We recommend that you be clear on your trophy list because this will guide your safari experience both on our camp and those in other regions.
Although we hire out equipment, we believe you will have a better hunting experience when using your own hunting tools. For our international hunters, luckily, no paperwork or import permits are required for bringing your bow hunting equipment into South Africa. However, there are some procedures to follow when collecting your bow at O. R Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg). Sporting firearms may be readily imported. You may bring up to three rifles per hunter (however most airlines limit you to 2) and 200 rounds of ammo per firearm but again, airline regulations allow only 5 kg (11 lbs) of ammo per passenger.

Advise You Should Take to Prepare
for a Hunt
For our guests from overseas, there are no prescribed immunisations required for coming into South Africa. However, should your overall trip include a visit to the Kruger National Park, then you will be in a Malaria-zone. We recommend you take precautionary measures and consult your doctor about taking preventative medication.
If you are making the trip with your family, kindly indicate this to us so that we can advise on activities for the entire family and for additional activities before, during, or after your stay with us.
If you are flying to, from or transiting through South Africa with a child under 18 years of age, you will have to adhere to certain rules. If only ONE parent is travelling with the child, you should travel with these documents in case you are asked to provide them:
- an unabridged birth certificate (full).
- consent in the form of an affidavit from the other parent registered as a parent on the birth certificate, authorizing them to enter or depart from South Africa with the child.
- a court order granting them full parental responsibilities and rights or legal guardianship or where applicable, a death certificate of the other parent registered as a parent of the child on the birth certificate.
When packing your luggage, do pack light. Our tariff includes efficient laundry services which our camp personnel will provide daily. For your hunting field gear, we suggest dark coloured clothes and boots with a rubber sole.
